Townsend Cahoon Plaza Schematic Design

Nestled near the bustling intersection of Poplar Avenue and 5th Avenue, the Townsend-Cahoon Plaza project reimagines downtown Murray as a vibrant, pedestrian-focused destination that honors its historic roots. Our design process, informed by extensive stakeholder interviews and detailed site analysis, led to a schematic design that enhances the community’s cultural narrative.

The transformation includes a pedestrian promenade with a distinctive gateway, curbless brick streets, heritage lighting, and seating that leads to a vintage diner car terminus. Adjacent to the historic Cahoon Mansion, a park-like setting with a classic gazebo supports community gatherings, enhancing the plaza’s utility for daily use and events. This careful integration of historical elements with modern amenities creates a lively hub that enriches daily life and serves as a versatile venue for festivals and events.
