Gateway Park

In 2018, Io worked to develop a Master Plan for Gateway Park into working construction drawings that included hardscapes, a playground (fitness park), planting, irrigation, stormwater management, and lighting. Due to the site’s small size and urban context, there were many constraints that our design team had to work around, including a close proximity to the S-Line Streetcar Corridor, various utilities, and adjacent existing infrastructure. Our design optimized the small space through the layout of affordable timber walls, and utilized a sub-surface detention system to manage stormwater. The project was successfully completed in 2019.
