Allen Park CLR
Allen Park is an urban oasis located along Emigration Creek on 1300 East in Salt Lake City. Also nicknamed “Hobbitville” by locals, this wooded site features an eclectic mix of unique buildings and nature-oriented artwork. The park covers seven acres and was originally developed by local physician and bird enthusiast, Dr. George Allen, along with his wife Ruth, a trained artist.
Io LandArch worked with Kirk Huffaker Preservation Strategies in completing a Cultural Landscape Report for the city. This report includes a thorough history of the site along with photos, maps and descriptions of the existing conditions and integrity of the site. Additionally, the report includes recommendations to the city for the treatment, preservation and adaptive re-use of the landscape considering potential uses as a public park and a home for arts-related programming and activities.
