Allen Park CLR

Allen Park, locally nicknamed “Hobbitville,” is an urban oasis located along Emigration Creek and 1300 East in Salt Lake City. The nearly eight-acre site was developed by the Allen Family, including Dr. George Allen, a local physician and bird enthusiast, and his wife Ruth, a trained artist. The site includes an eclectic mix of historic cabins and unique artworks woven throughout the site.

Io LandArch and Kirk Huffaker Preservation Strategies completed a Cultural Landscape Report documenting the history, existing conditions, and integrity of the site. Additionally, Io made treatment recommendations for the preservation and adaptive re-use of the landscape as a public park and possible home for arts-related programming and activities.
